Becoming a Member of First Baptist Church

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen” (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ tells us what it takes to become a member of a church. To become a disciple of Jesus Christ, a person must be saved, baptized, and commit to following what the Lord taught us. We at First Baptist Church follow these requirements for becoming a church member.

Requirements for becoming a member of First Baptist Church:

1. 1. A person must be saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
   2. A person must be baptized by the authority of a church of like faith and order.
   3. A person must be faithful to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

A person can become a member of First Baptist Church by transfer of membership from another church of like faith and order. The following are requirements:

1. 1. The person must be saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
   2. The person must be baptized by a church of like faith and order.
   3. A person must be faithful to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
   4. First Baptist Church will request a membership letter from previous church, and this church must be willing to grant the membership letter request.

A person can become a member of First Baptist Church on statement of salvation and baptism. This is normally done when the church of a person’s membership has gone out of existence or the person once held membership in a church of like faith and order but does not at the time of requesting to become a member of First Baptist Church. The following are requirements:

1. 1. A person must be saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
   2. A person must be baptized by the authority of a church of like faith and order.
   3. A person must be faithful to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
